I recently spoke on the phone with a lovely woman—kind, passionate, and dedicated—who had founded an NGO to support newcomer women in Canada.

As she shared her story, something felt familiar. I realized I had heard a similar journey before.

Another woman, another mission: helping women, mothers, newcomers succeed in Canada.

Same goal.

Same fire.

Same heart.

So I gently asked,

“Do you know X organization? They’re doing something similar—have you connected?”

The energy shifted instantly.

The warmth faded.

She said,

“That lady is different. Everyone knows she’s after something else.”

I tried to explain:

“But you have the same purpose. The same passion.”

“No,” she insisted. “I met her years ago and she didn’t listen to me. She’s not a good person, and everyone knows it.”

Then came the sentence that stunned me:

“If you support her, you’re just like her.”

She had invited me to give an inspirational speech at her event, yet in that moment she changed her mind.

The rest of the conversation grew tense and empty.

• A single communication hiccup shouldn’t separate souls who share the same purpose.

Let’s make a promise to ourselves

• To see people—not objects.

• To look beyond behaviour and connect with the human being underneath.

• To listen with love, not judgment.

• To move with unity, not fear.

Together, we can make the world a better place.

Together is the only way.
